Tucker Topics

Postby thethird1948 » Thu Dec 14, 2006 11:10 am

Hello,
I would like to know if anyone can tell me how to tell the difference between "real" original Tucker Topics, and newer repros.
I recently ordered a Tucker Topics on E-bay, where the person advertising claimed it was an "original 1948 Tucker Topics magazine." They had a bunch of Tucker items and I thought I was safe (and I may have been). Being how this is the first magazine I ordered though, I just want to know if it really is legit. I went through the magazine and cannot find anything that gives a more recent date than 1948, but again, i dont know what to look for. The magazine is in excellent shape and is on heavier paper than i would have thought.
Any help would be appreciated!!!

If you're referring to the 7 issues of Tucker Topics that were distributed to the dealers, it's a pretty safe bet you have an original as there have not been any reproductions made.

Recently there have been a few offerings on eBay for color copies of the Topics, but these were described and priced as such. They are also being sold by a board member of TACA so there is no intention or possibility of the copies being mistaken for originals.

Yes, it was issue an issue from May of 1948, with Preston Tucker and General Johnathon Wainwright on the cover. I did not buy it from the ebay seller on your link, so hopefully I got the real thing.
Thanks for the reply.
